The Performance Management and Awards Committee of the Judiciary has this afternoon concluded a two-day Training of Trainers on the Performance Enhancement Tool (PET) for the Judiciary.

The training, attended by both judicial and non-judicial officers, was held at the Supreme Court Conference Hall.

It aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills to implement the PET effectively, ensuring a more streamlined and accountable performance management system within the Judiciary.

PET is a digital platform that facilitates judicial performance assessment through various metrics and indicators. It enables justices, judges, registrars, magistrates, administrators, and non-judicial staff to conduct evaluations, analyze performance data, and generate reports, supporting decision-making and improving efficiency.

They were also taken through the 360-degree appraisal, selecting scores for Self-Appraisal, Supervisor, Subordinate and Peers as well as Court Users Survey with Advocates, Prosecutors/Government Lawyers, and the public.

Participants were also taken through Formulas for computation of the overall appraisal score as well as how to download the performance Appraisal Report.

During the sessions, participants discussed the importance of selecting relevant key performance indicators and competencies for different categories of judicial and non-judicial officers, emphasizing the need to simplify core competencies to ensure clarity and applicability across various roles within the judiciary.

Participants also pointed out the need to merge the Judiciary's current appraisal system with PET.
